11. Sorry but no → the other person has feelings that you just don't share. They don't necessarily have to be romantic... maybe you just don't agree with their sudden desire to quit their job and start a business making tiny, fuzzy teddy bears.
12. Enabler → you're enabling the other (or each other) to do something bad, really bad. Addiction, stealing, killing, or just any other self-destructive behavior.
13. Cooking → Time for an impromptu cooking lesson!

[Without skipping a beat, Philip continues the conversation as he turns over the page and starts a new set of notes.]

In a professional setting, this is called a happy ending. Although, from what I have found, this isn't actual sexual intercourse. It is just the massagee receiving further benefits.

[He paused and thought over what he just said. Then, if it ended up in actual sex, what would it be called? He hadn't found that information in any of the books or websites he had looked at. Did that kind of scenario happen? It would have to.

His right hand raised up and he tapped three fingers onto his lower lip as his eyebrows furrowed slightly. Or had he read the answer somewhere and forgotten to note it down? There was a frantic flipping of pages as the boy tried to find the answer to this new question.]

[ Not getting a straight answer doesn't phase Micchi at all. Just let Philip go off on his tangents til he's exhausted himself. ]

By 'actual sexual intercourse' you mean penetrative sex, right? There's lots of ways to have sex and still call it sex without the penetrative part, Philip.

[ Yeah, Micchi's just gonna sit here and inspect his nails as he casually reveals that he has intel on this subject. A real life person to interrogate is far more useful than a pile of musty old books. ]

[He trailed off a moment and flipped to one of the beginning pages and glanced down to the first few lines until a few things clicked together in his mind. He glanced towards Micchi. Then glanced back down to his book.

The pen clattered down onto the table and Philip turned to his friend, his hands moved to grab onto the other's boy's shoulders.]

[ There we go, attention on Micchi! Micchi can even handle Philip's reckless grabbing of him, so caught up in the possibility of explanations as he is. Micchi offers one of those, 'I know something you don't know' smiles. ]

I might have heard some things. [No need to specify or reference his own practical experience right now if Philip will be content with any old information.] I did my 'research' a while before now.

[There's really no need to prompt Philip, since he'll soon ask anyway, but-]

[There was almost a panic moment now as he looked over the books in front of him and glanced back at his laptop like he missed something. He had pulled out everything he thought was relevant.]

Which books? Which websites?

[Nevermind. That wasn't important. The information was here. It wasn't in a form he could read. And he wasn't really one for audio books or a reference he couldn't take proper notes from but this will have to do. That's what teachers do in class. They lecture. This will have to do.

He turned back to Micchi.]

I was in the locker room earlier reading when I overheard a conversation.

[Reading, avoiding the PE teacher. Pretty much the same deal.]

When these two boys talked about how they "scored" last night. And it took me a long time to realize that by "scored" they were referring to sexual intercourse. So I had to find out how this term relates. You have the answer. Why is it "scored" and in what relation is this to sexual intercourse?

[Well as if Micchi would have a mental (or physical!) bibliography of sex references to rattle off to Philip anyway. Only Philip would expect such a thing! "Porn Sites", "Sensible People Online Who Discuss Consent and Emotions" and "The University of Real Life" are not things he is going to tell Philip.

Thank goodness for Philip's short attention span for the details; all he wants is the juicy info. And to understand slang. That is usually Philip's downfall.

You really don't understand locker room talk. [He lifts his hands to make air quotes.] And when it's about sex it really is known as "locker room talk". Because the genders are segregated and guys can discuss girls freely. [Philip can surely understand that much. Micchi is intelligent enough to use these sort of terms when explaining things to Philip, talk his language. He shrugs Philip's hold off to lean forward and lower his voice.] You see, some guys treat sex like it's a game, and every girl they do it with is like another tally to their 'score'. Highest score wins.

[And before Philip can ask-] They don't actually win anything, it's all a reputation thing.

[His eyes widened with all of the new information. There was so much he could learn about this "locker room talk". And it was quite surprising seeing as how he, out of just about everyone in their grade, spent most of his time hiding out there in the locker room. Unfortunately, usually with a book which meant he didn't absorb too much other information.

You could almost physically see the dots connecting in Philip's mind between the conversation and the new information that was now suddenly presented.]

[It was a bit confusing that people would play this kind of game just for reputation and not an actual prize. What kind of motivation could that really be? Then, the important question.]

[ Better explain that one too while he's at it.] Because you're sharing a bed, and it's a more delicate way to put it depending on the company you're in. And you can feasibly pretend it does just mean platonically sharing a bed for sleep if an adult overhears you.

[Micchi thinks about those sort of things, after all. Deceiving teachers and other adults. His mouth twists, but not at that thought - lying doesn't bother him. Philip doesn't know what he's asking.]

You're getting deeper into this than you should before knowing more. Yeah, there actually is a position that guys consider worth more "points" than any other. [This is such a sensitive subject, he lowers his voice even futher.] Anal sex. Girls don't usually want to do it without some convincing; it's not enjoyable for them the same way it is for guys, because guys have a prostate. [And if Philip's human biology research didn't cover that he can look it up for himself.] So guys are basically patting one another on the back for coercing girls into sex that might not feel good for the girls at all. It's gross.

So no, I don't rank in the competition.

[This was a lot of information to take in. More than Philip thought he would ever get and a lot more than the few hours of research he had already put into this subject. Part of him had to wonder how Micchi knew so much. One of the mysteries of life he would probably never understand.

He leaned back slightly and leaned his chin on his hand as he tried to absorb as much of this as possible.

Firstly, there was a points system. Secondly, the points ranked. Thirdly, even though Micchi is competitive, he didn't rank in this reputation based game. Why not? Why do all of these boys have these locker room conversations about this game if someone like Micchi didn't participate.]

[He peered back towards Micchi.]

Then you put more value on the sexual intercourse than the boys that we share the locker room with. Which would mean that you perhaps place value on this relationship ideology.

[His hand slapped down onto the book about men and women being from differing planets. This entire strange book which seemed to implicate that men and women speak completely differing languages while speaking the same one.]

[ What's "interesting" is watching Philip take information in and then seeing what he gleans from it, what he considers important, and the conclusions his logic takes him to. He has probably never realised that every time Micchi is giving him information Micchi is also gathering his own: on Philip and his behaviour. ]

I wouldn't say I care about relationships- [Dont go accusing Micchi of being all mushy, now!] I just know that sex is way more enjoyable when you know the other person is really into it too. I want to have a good time together, not have a good time despite the other person's feelings.

[ Micchi had been that sort of person, in the past, in situations long before he was having sex. Caring more about his needs than anyone else's. Trying to force people into his ideals. It had backfired terribly and it's a blessing Philip wasn't around to witness any of it and have that information to hold over him. Yes, even if they're friends Micchi will always consider that sort of thing in the back of his mind.]

[So, deep down Micchi did care about the other person in the relationship. That's what the evidence would suggest; since he cared about being together with the other person. Although, how long together may be a different question to be asked another day. If Philip ever really bothered to ask it.

The actual human relations part wasn't what he was most interested in. What was most interesting were the mechanics of things. How it worked and why it was important.

The rest would sort itself out. Somehow.]

It was probably really easy to read the confusion across his expressions as he tried to untangle this new piece of information. And...after much thinking, he had to go with that first thought.]

[None of the books he had read had anything to do with dates between two males so it was obviously a male and female construct. Or...there was a lot more he might be learning.]

[Well, it isn't easy to surprise Micchi so much that he can't cover it up in time, but well done, Philip! Micchi starts laughing outright, and quickly has to quiet himself down, glancing around for any disapproving looks. Maybe they should get out of here.]

I really need to go back to basics with you, don't I? [It's easy to forget when Philip always picks up on information so quickly!] It means you're asking questions that are more personal than you're allowed right now. If anyone's interested in my sexual history they have to go out with me a few times first before I'll reveal anything.

[Well, that explanation did make sense. Philip sat there, thoughtful for a moment before the next question caught him off guard again. He raised an eyebrow at Micchi and sat up straight in his chair.

[When he thought about it, there was a section of some books that he had skipped over as it didn't seem to be useful in his current research. Maybe he should have read them after all.

He turned back towards his stack of books and tried to find that information again while muttering quietly to himself.]

[The right anatomy? Micchi stifles another laugh - that's it, Philip has wormed it out of him now and the amusement won't stop lingering in his head. Everything is so amusing. Everything so obvious to Micchi that Philip just doesn't know.

Philip is off on another tangent though, about "LBGT". At least he's on the right track! Micchi decides to sit and wait on Philip, let him run away with thoughts until he has another question to ask Micchi.

He pulls out his phone to check his messages: plenty of people with the "wrong anatomy" who are panting over him to get a date. Oh Philip, so naive.]

[It may have been a good hour while Philip was flipping through books and browsing a few web pages in between. Every now and then he would glance over to Micchi, think for a moment and then go back to his book to research a bit more.

Micchi was being extraordinarily patient, not that Philip would really notice. He had to understand why he had just been asked out on a date and then he had to understand what this kind of date would entail.

He replies to some inappropriate messages he'd gotten on a dating site (it's fun to mess with people!) with scathing responses and the block button, and barely even notices the way he's being completely ignored in favour of books. Normally Micchi would not be happy about being so neglected. Or having to wait so long for an answer when he just asked someone on a date! But: Philip. Philip doesn't adhere to normal human rules.

Micchi can make him pay for it later. Wait til Philip learns about how great kissing feels.

I'm bisexual, I guess. I don't really put a label on it. [For Philip though, you kind of have to.] Into the same gender as me as well as different to me. Why be limited?

[Then there was the one topic that the books kind of brushed over. And the internet just added more confusion. He now flipped the books closed and stacked them up again as he rant a few thoughts through his head.

So, Micchi liked both. He asked Philip out on a date. The figures didn't quite add up as he didn't really understand Micchy's motive for doing that.

Philip also didn't quite know where he stood in this whole LGBT spectrum. Well, asides from the fact that he couldn't be an L.

[Micchi tries not to slap his palm into his face. It's not a dumb question - not at all! Some people are confused for a long time about who they like, or even if they like people that way at all! It's far more complex than Philip is going to get from books. And this is all stuff Micchi needs to get across to him.]

Well, boys and girls liking one another is the common thing, so it's assumed to be the default - practically the only thing, as you're already aware. [Micchi looks pointedly at all the other books Philip had been referencing that clearly hadn't talked about alternate sexualities at all.] Most people just accept that they're going to like the opposite gender and that's it. Mmmm... [Philip is going to want specifics.] I guess it's things like your heart racing when you see someone, or getting nervous butterflies in your stomach. Or if it's a much more physical attraction than anything else then your dick will respond.

[Dear god, don't say Micchi is going to have to explain masturbation to Philip too. Not that he'd entirely mind...]

[Well that might be a problem. It's not that Philip is asexual or anything but he was a very special individual. If it's never gotten his attention in the past, it wasn't like his body was going to get his attention now. The boy has always been a lot more into books and information than anything physical.

That's not to say something wouldn't catch his attention but really, who in their right mind would try?

The adrenaline would be a response to the person you liked being near you. Some people get nervous because they're not confident enough to talk to the one they like. Not everyone can just go up and ask people questions like you do, with no fear of the answer. Not everyone would just shrug it off if someone didn't like them.

[Philip has no sense of self-consciousness at all, and doesn't value himself based on what other people think of him. He's the opposite of the average teenager; of course Micchi finds him fascinating for that and wants to be around him! Philip is interesting. Fun things happen around him, even though he's oblivious to them all.

[That answer confused Phillip for just one moment. There had to be some kind of importance to this. Although, until he experienced it himself, he wouldn't know if he would feel emotionally hurt if someone rejected him. He had to become attached to somebody first. That would also be a new experience.]

A date would be a social outing exclusively between two people. Some examples would be watching a movie, eating a meal or some other social activity that the pair would agree to. Traditionally the male party will pay. [There was a pause there as he tried to factor that into the new information.] Or if you are dutch, then each individual would pay themselves. Although, I have yet to discover why this is a specific custom to the Dutch.

[Time to stifle another chuckle.]

It's more slang, Philip. "Going Dutch" means splitting the cheque. Honestly I have no idea where it comes from or if it even has anything to do with the Dutch. Look it up. [Micchi doesn't actually mean look it up right now though, so- ] Later.

[He had taken the invitation to turn around and open one of his books before the final part of the response caught his attention. Later. Right. Sometimes things got through to him.

There was a pause as Philip considered the question again and then decided that first hand experience was required for this topic and who better to provide this than someone who seemed well versed in this subject.]
